Sure enough, after trying out several frozen yogurt recipes and variations, I went with what seemed to me to be the simplest method: straight yogurt, churned in an ice cream maker, frozen until snack time.
While there are a few ways you can solve this dilemma (like hanging the yogurt in a cheesecloth overnight), in the end I decided to just embrace plain yogurt and turn to a few cooking tricks to ensure a spoonable, reasonably creamy, and totally satisfying dessert.
Not only will this freeze a little more quickly (bonus!), but I also find that having a long runway is the best way to scoop frozen yogurt into tidy balls. This fro-yo is still going to be less dreamy and creamy than regular ice cream, and it can be rather brittle when you try to scoop it. The trick is to make long, shallow scoops.
Whisk together all the ingredients: Combine 3 cups yogurt, 1/2 cup heavy cream, and 3/4 cups to 1 cup sweetener in a bowl and 1 tablespoon corn syrup (if using). Whisk until heavy cream and the sweetener are fully mixed in, 1 to 2 minutes. If you're using granulated sugar, then the mixture should feel smooth between your fingers, not gritty.
Refrigerate, if needed: If your yogurt mixture has warmed at all or if you want to wait to churn it for any reason, cover it and place it in the fridge until it has cooled to fridge temperature again. If your ingredients have only been out of the fridge a few minutes, another chilling isn't necessary.
Churn the yogurt until thick: Pour the yogurt base into the ice cream machine. Churn until the yogurt has thickened to the texture of soft-serve or a thick milk shake (17 to 20 minutes on most machines).
Serve the frozen yogurt: When ready to serve, let the frozen yogurt sit on the counter for 20 to 30 minutes, until just soft enough to scoop. Use long, shallow strokes to form balls of frozen yogurt. Serve right away.

In summer, there's nothing quite like a sweet frozen treat. I used to own an ice cream maker, but it took up too much countertop space. So I gave it away, and now I make frozen treats without an ice cream maker.
I like to completely puree the fruit in the food processor, then add the yogurt, honey, and vanilla. But you can blend the yogurt and honey first, then add the fruit and process briefly, leaving fruit chunks in your yogurt.

Combine the yogurts, sugar and honey in a large bowl. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved. Taste and add a few more tablespoons of sugar if necessary (some brands of yogurt are more tart than others).
Souvla (a popular Greek chain in San Francisco) has a frozen Greek yogurt with olive oil and salt flakes that I miss after moving. I recreated using this recipe as the base and added the toppings. AMAZING!
This tart frozen yogurt is absolutely delish and so easy to make! The soft and creamy texture is so yummy and perfect straight out of the ice cream maker. I was wondering if adding a small amount of vodka to this recipe ( as you do for your frozen strawberry yogurt) would help the yogurt to stay soft and creamy once frozen in the freezer If so, How much would you suggest adding Thank you so much!
Hi Jeff, It is meant to be the consistency of soft serve ice cream. For a thicker end product, just use all Greek yogurt. Regarding the texture, what is custard sugar Do you mean caster sugar Be sure to stir the yogurt and sugar until the sugar is dissolved before freezing in the machine. Hope that helps!
I cant begin to tell you how delicious this is!!!!!!! we added cinnamon once, and it was fantastic! Ive had this recipe for a week, and weve made it 3x. Made with lowfat yogurt, and it was delicious, its creamier when eaten fresh, but its still plenty wonderful once its frozen. yum yum yum

Who founded Menchie's When and where did the first store openMenchie's opened its first store in Valley Village, a suburban community of Los Angeles, California, on May 15, 2007, by husband and wife team Adam and Danna Caldwell. The Menchie's concept emerged from a story of two lovebirds and their common love of frozen yogurt, when Adam took Danna to a frozen yogurt store on their first date; that was when Danna's sweet tooth took over, and the world of frozen yogurt was never the same again.

Ultra-Heat-Treated (UHT) mix, is a liquid mix which has been sterilised and packed in sealed, sterile bags or cartons. It can usually last for up to nine months without refrigeration and can be poured into the soft serve freezer immediately upon opening. UHT frozen yogurt mixes are difficult to produce by manufacturers and equally hard to source suppliers which can provide a regular supply.
Since frozen yogurt machines are regular soft serve freezers, they can be used for a wide range of different products. The only difference is how the machine is commissioned during installation. Other soft serve products include: 59ce067264
